The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) is the UK’s leading association for perioperative practitioners. For almost 60 years, we’ve been supporting everyone working in and around the operating department to be the best practitioner they can be.
Our mission is to lead perioperative excellence and improve patient care and safety. As our flagship event, the AfPP Annual Conference plays a key part in helping us achieve this mission. Every year, we welcome over 500 perioperative practitioners for a packed programme of education, networking, workshops and entertainment.
#AfPPConf2022 is set to be one of the largest gatherings of theatre practitioners in the professional (and social) calendar. We’re inviting everyone working or studying in the perioperative environment to join us – in-person or virtually!
This year’s theme is ‘Anything is possible.’ Dealing with COVID, redeployment and backlogs has taken its toll on the perioperative community. We will be exploring how we can move forward to enhance patient safety, quality of care, staff wellbeing and career progression. When we work together to innovate, speak up, educate and support one another, anything truly is possible.
Also joining us are more than 30 expert speakers. Presenting across five live education streams, they’ll be covering topics ranging from sustainability, product/workforce innovation, and robotics to human factors, bullying, and resilience. There are sessions to suit every interest and career stage.
Keynote speakers include Lisa Clifford, who will ignite the fire within you to achieve anything you set your mind to, and Anthony Bennett, the miracle man who survived 12 near-death experiences through resilience and teamwork. We’re also shining a spotlight on surgical fires and surgical smoke plume – two of our key safety campaigns in recent years. This will include an exclusive interview with Tony Clarke, a surgical fire survivor and patient safety ambassador.
For the first time, we’re also running practical Basic Surgical Skills workshops. Try your hand at suturing, knot tying, and more. But be quick! There’s limited capacity for these first-come-first-serve sessions. Other clinical-focused sessions will include difficult airways and infection control.
Of course, it’s not all about the education. There are plenty of opportunities for networking too. Regular breaks give you time to share ideas and concerns with like-minded peers from across the country. Meals are included in your ticket, so you can swap notes over lunch! Residential tickets also include drinks receptions and evening entertainment. Package 1 delegates can also attend our infamous Gala Dinner (this year’s theme is The Roaring Twenties: Great Gatsby). It’s a chance to let your hair down as well as learn.
Virtual, day and residential tickets are available. Prices start from £40 for AfPP members and £60 for non-members. Learn more and get your ticket at https://www.afppconf2022.co.uk/
None of this would be possible without our exhibitors. So, make sure you visit them in the exhibition hall! Over 40 organisations will be available to share their latest solutions and answer questions.
