A message from the presidents
In May 2022 a unique event will take place in the wonderful city of Edinburgh, UK. Two international well-known meeting organisers, Regional Anaesthesia-UK (RA-UK) and the International Symposium of Ultrasound for Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine (ISURA), will join together in order to give a unique opportunity to all attendants to build their own and personalised meeting experience in perioperative care and chronic pain.
The meeting will focus on regional anaesthesia, chronic pain and POCUS and comprise of lectures, live ultrasound demonstrations, interactive audience polls and open discussion. There will also be an opportunity for networking, informal conversation and hands-on workshops. Over 10 transatlantic and 25 European world experts will be invited to what should be the biggest regional anaesthesia and pain meeting in the UK since ESRA 2013. Given the continued uncertainty due to COVID-19, the meeting will be of hybrid format allowing delegates to participate either in-person and virtually through live-streaming. Delegates all over the world can choose how to attend based on their need.
RA-UK is the national chapter of ESRA and hosted its Annual Scientific Meeting in virtual platform in 2020 with a great success, with nearly 1000 delegates tuning in to watch the conference, allowing RA-UK to keep up its tradition of delivering ground-breaking educational content to medical professionals. ISURA is the first large meeting completely dedicated to the application of ultrasound for regional anaesthesia and pain medicine. It will be the 19th ISURA for this joint meeting. The tradition of ISURA is to have the event held alternately between Toronto and a beautiful European city. Previous European ISURA meetings have attracted almost 1500 in person delegates.
The venue for the 2022 meeting is Edinburgh International conference centre (EICC). Located in the heart of the vibrant city of Edinburgh the EICC is an impressive purpose-built venue ideal for conferences. Edinburgh is renowned for inspiration and innovation. For centuries it has nurtured some of the greatest minds in philosophy, economics, finance, literature, law, medicine, engineering and architecture. We are sure it will be a perfect setting for the joint meeting.
We hope that you will join with us to experience the unique RAUK-ISURA atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh!
