Preview of The AfPP Annual Conference 2023, York, 10-13 August

The AfPP Annual Conference 2023 promises to be an unforgettable event with up to 14.5 CPD hours available.

Delegates will have a unique opportunity to enhance their knowledge, expand their network and celebrate their profession in a supportive and engaging environment.

Virtual tickets are available for those who are unable to attend the University of York, where the conference will be held 10 – 13 August.

The conference boasts six learning streams and features over 30 expert speakers covering a wide variety of topics, with this year’s programme packed with plenty of clinical sessions.

Pete Chell, Clinical Lead for Anaesthetics and Education at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, will introduce a new initiative to source, recruit and ensure the smooth transition of international Anaesthetic Practitioners into the UK workforce.

Dr Achuthan Sajayan, Consultant Anaesthetist at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, will explore ‘Difficult Airway Management Learning from Incidents’. Along with Dr Fauzia Mir, Sajay currently leads the DAS Difficult Airway Alert Card and Database project involving roughly 196 hospitals in the UK.

Dealing with the surgical backlog, Imran Ahmad from Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust will deliver a session on ‘A Weeks’ Worth of Surgery in One Day’. Stella Vig will discuss ‘Resuming Elective Surgery’.

Delegates can explore the future of the perioperative environment with a session on Robotics by Morven Stewart and ‘The Use of AI in the Perioperative Setting’ by Patrick Voight.

As keynote speaker, Faye O’Hara hopes that sharing her story following a tragic car accident will inspire others to recognise that, even when life doesn’t go to plan, there is always another route.

Delegates can unwind and network during evening meals and entertainment, providing an excellent opportunity to make new connections, share experiences and catch up with old friends.

There will be ample opportunity for delegates to explore the exhibition hall with the latest innovations, products, ideas and technology on display.

Whether delegates want a fully immersive conference experience, or a day package, there are a range of options available to suit all budgets.
